What do you mean by "inadvertently"? When ever Im confused about the meaning of a word, I try using it in a similar analogy.

EXAMPLE: Adult people can and should be held responsible even when they practice pedophilia "inadvertently".

Male people can and should be held responsible even when they practice rape "inadvertently.

Military people can and should be held responsible even when they practice genocide "inadvertently".

Motive is very important in determining an act to be criminal.

What is the motive for a person classifying themselves as a White person?
