Counter racist codification deals with racist thought, speech, and action. Most of us have seen many examples of racist speech and racist action.
I think I have a good example of racist thought.
For those of you who are familiar with Francis Cress Welsing, you know she deals quite a bit with the subcouncious aspects of human behavior. When I first learned of her work I was too busy dealing with racist actions to pay much attention to the idea of racist thought.
But as I became more counter racist codified in my own thought, I soon realized that thought is what usually gives birth to action.
Many of us have heard the phrase, "LITTLE GREEN MEN FROM MARS"
I suspect this phrase came up long before any kind of space flight was a reality. I also suspect it was White people who came up with the concept. Why did they do this?
I think it has something to do with the signifigence of skin color in the White mind.
I have always heard that Mars was the "red" planet. Why not little "red" men from Mars?
This may not be the best example of "race" thinking, but I find it interesting that White people gave beings that may not even exist, a non white color classification.
As a foot note, notice how in most popular science fiction movies, the "aliens" are White.
except for 2 that I know of. "Aliens" where the alien is a non white female having too many "illegitimate kids" and therefor must be destroyed. And "ET" where the little brown alien interacts with children the whole movie,gets drunk, cross dresses and basically does a minstrel routine the entire movie.
When you see these things always remember that someone is creating them and alot of their "hidden" though process comes out on the screen.
